Community Gathering - Moving Forward

Over 300 men, women & children gathered at Darul Ummah Centre to support Darul Ummah Development Project at 6 pm on Friday 2nd July 10. Darul Ummah Development Project Committee organised this Community Gathering to update the local community and ask for their prayer and support. People from every walks of life flocked into the Darul Ummah Centre to show their heartfelt support for this much needed development project for this deprived ward in Shadwell. This gathering was successful by the presence of many key persons in the community including Community Development Specialist Mr Mamoon  al-Azami from Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah; Barrister Rizwan Hussain – Advisor to the Charity Department, Channel S; Former Dawatul Islam & UK Ameer Hafiz Maulana Abdul Qadir and AKM Abdus Salam; Principal of Mazahirul Ulum Hafiz Mawlana Emdadur Rahman al- Madani; Principal of Markazul Ulum London Maulana Shuaib Ahmad; Director of Al-Huda Centre Prof Abdul Kader Saleh; Mufti Maulana Shah Sadruddin, Convenor of Bangladeshi Muslims UK Shaikh Sirajul Islam, renowned speaker in Bangladesh Maulana Junaid Habib, Chairman of Council of Mosques in Tower Hamlets Hafiz Mawlana Shamsul Haque.

In the introductory speech, Senior Vice President of Dawatul Islam UK & Eire Hafiz Mauala Shafiqur Rahman welcomed everyone and addressed the needs of the Redevelopment of Darul Ummah Centre. Barrister Rizwan reiterated in his speech that “this Centre – Darul Ummah belongs to every community persons in the community. Darul Ummah means “The House of the Community” and it is the house of the community and it is our duty to support this project.” This centre would be an ideal example for not only London but for all UK & Europe – he added. He said, I did support this project before and once again I am renewing my support for this project and will be supporting till my last breath inshaAllah”.

Former President of Da’watul Islam UK & Eire Hafiz Maulana Abdul Qadir and AKM Abdus Salam walked through the past memories and wished the very best for this project. Hafiz Maulana Abdul Qadir, further emphasized on the development on the educational side of Jamiatul Ummah and take it further to the higher qualification enlightening the whole UK & Europe by the light of education.

An informative Power Point  presentation of Darul Ummah Development project was given by Vice President Hasan Mueenuddin. All the guest speakers supported this project whole heartedly and assured the community that they will be supporting this project throughout its timescale.  Maulana Shah Sodruddin praised Dawatul Islam UK & Eire for this beautiful project and delivering much needed educational establishment in Darul Ummah.  Community Development Specialist Mamoon Al-Azami from Islamic Development Bank (IDB) was very impressed to learn about the services being provided by Darul Ummah Development Project particularly Female Only Accommodation which gives this project an Uniqueness of its Kind.

In the conclusion speech, President Sheikh AK Moudood Hasan addressed the local issues and importance of this much needed Development Project in Shadwell. He highlighted that this project would deliver key services for the local communities including Community Services; Female Student Accommodation; Funeral Services; Higher Education; Secondary Education; Weekend Study Support; Evening School; Library; ICT; Youth only services; Female only services; Prayer Hall; Gym. He thanked everyone for giving huge support for this project and requested to pray to Allah – the God Almighty to help us to deliver this unique project in the deprived area in Shadwell.

The gathering was co-presented by Secretary General Maulana AA Hifzur Rahman and Assistant Secretary General S Kawsar. A heart touching prayer was conducted by  the President AK Moudood Hasan at the end of the programme followed by a light refreshments being served.
