The Excel Award Ceremony 2010 held at Darul Ummah


The Annual Excel Award Ceremony 2010 was held at Darul Ummah – the House of the Community on Saturday 2010. It showcased well over 100 award winners and attended by very distinguished guests from all walks of life. The Excel Award – a project of Da’watul Islam UK & Eire and Da’watul Islam Youth Group – aims to recognise the achievement in SATs, GCSEs, A – Levels, Degree and Postgraduate Courses to inspire and encourage each others for a virtual drive to go for excellence in education.

 

The Chief Guest Cllr Motin uz Zaman - the Mayor of Tower Hamlets congratulates everyone for being successful at the exams. He went on saying that it is a privilege of being here to see the future Leaders, Politicians, Councillors, Professionals who will give the society & the country a great boost.

Dr Saiful Alam Hannan, Consultant Surgeon at Royal Free Hospital Hampstead insisted to stay focused and keep climbing up the ladders of the knowledge while he was handing out the Certificates to the SATs & GCSE achievers.

 

Dr Kamrul Hassan, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, addressed the A Level achievers saying “it is not the end of your journey - it is just a beginning”. “Stay focused & be consistent and you can reach your target” - he added.

"Who can do it? - I can do it. It is me who can do everything" - said by Mr Zoinul Abidin, the Head of Library Services at the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. Mr Abidin encouraged the recent graduates and others by saying be confident & believe in yourself and you can hit your target.

 

Judge Belayeth Hussain told that he did not have the privilege of having a certificate or glorious outstanding results like 10A* As when he left school in his time. He added that it is pleasing to see our community has moved on and it is a great opportunity for you to celebrate and be encouraged to do more & more in the current environment. 

 

Sheikha Selina Begum Ali, founding Director and Arabic & Tajweed Teacher at Beacon Institute told the Award Winners that this Award will truly be successful once you continue to do your Higher & Further studies & improve yourselves & the society around.

The event also heard from Mr Jayed Sarker, who achieved one of the best results for A Levels from Jamiatul Ummah Sixth Form and received the Excel Gold Award and going to Oxford University for Higher Education. He shared his thoughts on how to face the challenges ahead and stay focus for achieving excellence.

 

Guest Panel was enriched by the presence of Sheikh Abu Ahmad Hifzur Rahman - Secretary General of Da'watul Islam UK & Eire; Sheikh Abdur Rahman Madani - Principal, Jamiatul Ummah; Ustadhah Mafruha Khatun - President of Da'watul Islam Women Section; Ustadhah Shahanara Begum - Vice President of Da'watul Islam Women Section; Mrs Husnara Begum – a School Governor of  the Blue Gate Field Primary School who also gave out certificates to the Award Winners.

It was an amazing afternoon of inspiration where all achievers from young to adults were honoured and recognised and that set a enviable target for all. It is very much encouraging to see the achievers include 10A* plus for GCSEs, 3A* plus for A –Levels, 1st Class and 2:1s for degree courses, PGCEs, MSc, MA, MBA and others.


In the concluding remarks, President of Da'watul Islam UK & Eire Shiekh Moudood Hasan congratulated all the award winners and emphasized on Education, Education & Education. He thanked all the Excel Award 2010 team for making this Award Ceremony a successful event.

 

Award Giving Ceremony 2010 was started with beautiful Quran Recitation by Shiekh Tarik Muhammad Nasrullah and concluded with dua lead by Sheikh Moudood Hasan. The whole event was hosted jointly by Rafique Ahmad, Central Youth Secretary, Mr Muhtadi Hassan of Dawatul Islam Youth Group & Miss Ismatara Nipa of Dawatul Islam Girls Group.
