Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakaatuh
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings on His final messenger, Muhammad ﷺ. We ask Allah to grant us patience, to strengthen our reliance on Him, and to increase us in our faith and good deeds.
In light of the latest government advice, advice from medical professionals, and in line with the decision made by the Council of Mosques, *we have taken the extremely difficult decision to temporarily close the doors of Darul Ummah Jame Masjid to members of the public after Fajr prayer on 19/03/2020*.
This will include all prayers and Jumuah (Friday prayer) until further notice.
This unprecedented situation is under constant review, and we will ensure that our community is kept well informed.
In order to continue to provide a service to our community, we will continue to broadcast the Adhan, insha’Allah, and are taking steps to make all our various services and weekly events available online. We recommend that during these trying times, we bring the beauty of the masjid into our homes: praying in Jamaah with our families when the Adhaan is called; increasing the reading of the Quran, making regular Istighfaar and Tawbah, and of course keeping the whole of our Ummah in your duaa.
Though we are devastated that we cannot attend our Mosques like we want to, we should remember to be grateful that the loss of our Mosques did not come about because we abandoned them, but rather to protect the vulnerable. It has become a religious duty.
Oh Allah, You know that we did not abandon our Salah in the Mosques except because we were forced to. Ya Rabbi, rid us of this trial and return us back to Your Houses and Your Pleasure. Ameen
May Allah help us all in these times of trial.
Your brother in Islam,
Chairman of Darul Ummah London
